Pathology Services

Blood Transfusion

transfusion

The Blood Transfusion laboratories provide a 24 hour service, 365 days a year for both of our hospital sites.

Our laboratories provide both standard and highly specialised blood and blood components to meet the diverse requirements of patients who are dependent on these products.

We provide transfusion guidance; for example we have evidence-based maximum surgical blood ordering schedules, blood ordering in complex clinical situations such as poly trauma and advice for patients who may refuse to receive blood transfusions.

We also have a comprehensive range of clinical policies for blood transfusion incorporating every aspect of the transfusion process.

All our blood transfusion services have full traceability from the donor to the recipient.

Below has a link with Haematology and transfusion  services handbook with extensive details inclusive of turnaround times, contact details.
