Pathology IT

Pathology IT form part of the behind-the-scenes team which play a crucial role in keeping the Laboratories at Colchester, Ipswich & West Suffolk hospitals operating smoothly and aiming to provide the best possible patient care through the management of the various pathology systems.

The team comprises of members with a background as experienced Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistant’s and those with experience in Pathology IT and IT in the wider healthcare setting. This mix of skills allows the team to offer dedicated support for any issues that arise, alongside the development and improvement of the Laboratory systems continually developing the delivery of the Pathology service to both clinical staff and patients.

The team support the BAU functions of the below systems such as password resets, the creation of accounts for new users, ensuring clinician & source information is up to date; whilst also undertaking changes to improve and develop the existing test repertoire and a wide range of projects.

Pathology IT not only work closely with the Laboratories and Trust IT but their colleagues at the Pathology Customer Service Desk to aid with a timely incident response and resolution. There are also links with the Pathology BI Team who support with reports and data requests.

The team also runs an on-call service operating outside of routine working hours to ensure that any urgent matters preventative or disruptive to the Laboratories are dealt with as promptly as possible.

Data Request Form – this must be completed when requesting data.

ESNEFT Microbiology Service Improvement
